Quilt Kit Instructions
This past week I have been working on the doll quilt kits, prepping and cutting tons of tiny pieces of fabric. The one thing I have been putting off is writing the instructions, which is a struggle for me. In this first draft, I tried to come up with a format I could use for all the patterns. Since I absolutely cannot draw at all, I had to use photos. I know I am assuming a certain amount of sewing ability, but I was thinking that anyone purchasing this type of kit would already know how to sew.
It’s a lot to ask, but if any of you have a few minutes, I would love to have your comments, suggestions, criticisms, corrections — basically anything.
I’m still working out all the little details — I know you’ll all be happy when I stop talking about this, and finally open the stupid shop.
Thanks!

Sounds wonderful to me! Very straight-forward instructions and pics.
The Word program has the ability to draw lots of patchwork shapes for pattern instructions – I use it a lot – if you get tired of taking photos of everything.

I think these are very helpful. I just sold a bunch of commercial quilt patterns on eBay, and none of them had directions as clear and detailed as these.

Love it, the only thing I would add at the top is the finished dimension of the quilt.

Martha, your instructions and pictures were great. They were very easy to understand, and I don’t think anyone would have any trouble with them. The only thing that you might want to add to your quilt kits is a rating–begginning, intermediate, or advanced–because some are a lot harder than others. A begginner could do this one, for example, but may not be able to do the Drunkards Path. I enjoy your blog page sooo much. You do great work!

I think the instructions and photos are spot on. I usually get kinda confused with sashing instructions, but these are nice and clear and the photos help a bunch. See? You can do it!!
