Vintage French/German Fabric

Posted on July 27, 2009May 6, 2012 by Martha

These beautiful vintage fabrics are from one of my favorite ebay sellers, frjoan, who lives in France.  The fabrics average about 1/4 yard and they come freshly laundered and smell great (such a treat since many vintage fabrics I purchase have that old fabric odor).  Joan also sells lovely vintage European linens — mostly sheets and pillowcases with embroidery and lace insertions.

I tried to be artistic with the photo — I haven’t decided what sort of quilt I am going to make with these fabulous pieces, but it will have to be something very special.

Oh wow! Those are GORGEOUS!! It will be a real treat to see what you decide to do with them. And I LOVE the way you photographed them! I’ll be back several times just to stare at them – yes, I’m afraid your fabric may have a stalker. 🙂

Yes, your are an artist with photography! This is gorgeous. Those of us who are “unhandy” with a needle still love to read about the creations of those of you who can create with fabric! C

    Hi Martha,

Did you make anything with these yet? I have a collection of these too, also bought from the lovely frjoan. I’ve made some cushions, bags and little things but can’t decide on a quilt either. The cushions had dresden plates in the centre which looked quite good.
