Hello Kitty Redwork Quilt Top

Posted on February 23, 2009April 10, 2017 by Martha

My daughter, Emily, loves Hello Kitty so I decided to make a little quilt for her using the pictures from a HK coloring book. Hello Kitty is really fun to embroider — I used both 1 and 2 strands of floss, depending upon the level of detail in the picture. My favorites are Hello Kitty in foreign countries — Emily likes the animal costumes. The alternate block is a variation of Puss in the Corner with an additional row on the outside. I’m sure it has a name, but I don’t have my book here to look it up. I plan to add a white border so I can quilt Kitty’s hair bow and maybe some Hello Kitty lettering.

Too Cute!! I think the Hello Kitty coloring books are a gold mine of embroidery designs! I love your redwork, too. I have stamped an apron with Hello Kitty and her backyard bar-b-que, but haven’t gotten beyond that initial step. I intended it as a xmas gift for my daughter last year. Maybe I will have it done for this year!

Even without your beautiful quilting, this is a fantastic top!

I love the idea of repeating the bows as a quilting motif.

I love this! I’ve got 3 or 4 of the HK coloring books to do something similar. I don’t think I have all of the international Kitty designs, but those are the ones I’m collecting. This is beautiful!
