Something quilty coming soon — I promise. Until then, here are some sweet initials designed by Sarah Hale Hunter, and published in the Portsmouth Daily Times in the early 1900s. Below the alphabets are six designs meant for use with initials. Additional designs and one more set of initials can be found in an earlier post. Click images to enlarge.
These are so pretty! Thanks for sharing Martha! Hugs, Mickie
So elegant, so pretty. I really like the fourth set of letters, they almost look like deer antlers! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. They are lovely.
Very pretty, my faves are the third from the top, I would love to stitch some fun sayings in those style letters.
Hi Martha! Thank you for posting these designs. I can remember when I was growing up going to the local home owned fabric store, or Woolworths, and buying pillow cases with stamped designs to embroidery. My goodness, how I loved the colors and pictures come alive on the fabric. The wreaths you have posted today would make a lovely design on a scarf, surrounded by petite flowers or birds or butterflies. I have finally started my blog this week, Postcards from a Montana Stitcher at needleworker2012.blogspot.com. I only have one post but will keep journaling. It should include quilting, reproduction samplers, knitting, and embroidery. I am only limited by having to work a real job, LOL. Have a great day!
Thank you so much Martha for these – they are beautiful.
