This time I waited until I had two new rows to post. Pretty soon the quilt will become more squarish and I’ll be able to fit it into one photo. Probably everyone is getting tired of looking at this quilt, but at some point in the near future I am going to run out of finished quilts to photograph so I’ll probably be posting lots more of this WIP stuff. I’m attempting to branch out a bit in my embroidery stitches. I tried to do some back stitching, but it didn’t show up very well on this thick, fuzzy fabric. I took Bunny’s advice and purchased some black flannel for the back which I think is going to be really cozy.
Love this quilt. I would like to see a closeup of the basket in the middle of the bottom row.
I have hundreds of small embroidery patterns and am thinking about making quilts using them.
I love all your pics.

Thanks, Karen — I have added a closeup of the basket for you.
As always, your embroidery is fantastic! I check my blogroll often to see your posts, I love looking at your WIPs especially. It is always great to watch a quilt come together piece by piece. I think this is going to be the best cozy quilt!
This embroidery is fantastic!! How do you decide what stitch to do where? I’ve mostly done cross-stitching, and one sampler that I picked up on our honeymoon, but it told me exactly which stitches to do for everything. I’m at a loss when there is just a drawing!!
Thanks Bunny and Amy —
Bunny — You make me feel a lot better about the whole WIP thing. Now that I think about it….I do enjoy watching other crafter’s projects come together.
Amy — I’ve done a lot of counted cross stitch in the past, and it began to freak me out that everyone who did a particular purchased pattern would end up with an exact duplicate. I guess I wanted to do something just a little different. I would suggest purchasing a book of embroidery stitches with good illustrations and give it a try — that’s what I’m doing. It’s kind of weird at first to choose your own colors and stitches, but I think you’ll like it because you are so creative.
Martha,
I love the blanket stitch on the roses! How did the colors of the grapes develop? Is it variegated floss, or did you just use different shades of purple? I love seeing the progress of this quilt. I use Google Reader and it shows the photos in close up view before I click over to your blog. Just beautiful!
Hey Jan — I just used some different shades of purple and my usual outline stitch. I’m going to need a lot more practice to get my back stitch to look as perfect as yours!
The basket is very beautiful and homely.
