Walker’s Hot iron Transfers #102 – Children’s Wear Designs

Posted on July 14, 2013August 1, 2015 by Martha

When I wrote a post about these patterns in 2010, I linked to images of the transfers on my Flickr page.  Since I’ve deleted my Flickr account, I thought I should make them available again on my blog.

These are numo transfers with raised blue dots that are one use only. Because some of the dots were brittle and the ink was flaking off, I decided scan the transfers and redraw all of the dots in Photoshop.  The process took a long time, but it felt good to save the designs from these very old patterns, although I think some of them are odd choices for children’s clothing.

Click on the gallery picture to enlarge the images (they are smallish).  There are a few more transfers from this group in the earlier post.

Hey Martha, thanks for sharing! I love these, they are so cute! Why did you get rid of your flickr account? I was just wondering as I don’t really care for the new set up there. Anyway, these are great! Thanks and have a great day! Hugs, Mickie

Thank you Martha – every time I trace an old pattern, I think of you, and how faithful you are to save these old treasures. Why did you get rid of your flickr???

These are so wonderful and a few of them are super cute, I hardly believe the design existed, dearest Martha. ^_^

I found your blog by accident (still don’t know how???). And I am very thankful that I did. I have been searching for many years for vintage transfers and also quilting diagrams. I had many years ago, but lost when pipes broke in my home. I used to be able to find at yard sales and thrift stores in the mid west, but since I moved to southern California, I can’t find a thing. We don’t even have a decent fabric store in the area. I have heard that one may be moving in about 40 miles away-lets hope!
I just wanted to thank you.

I agree that there are some odd motifs. I think the boy struggling with homework would be an odd choice for anything!

Hi Martha, thank you for publishing these to your blog. Walkers transfers are pretty old motifs and would end up lost without people willing to share them. Thanks again. 🙂
To Joyce Carter, there is a embroidery group on flickr if you want to check it out. You do have to sign up for a yahoo account, though. Just thought you might want to know. Mickey, I too don’t like the new flickr set up but I still go to the embroidery sight HoopLove and Vintage Embroidery.
Martha thank you again for posting these motifs and all the hard work you did restoring them.
    I really appreciate your blog.

Oh goodness me, thanks for sharing!! I love them, I don’t go to Flickr much anymore, now that it is all changed, why don’t they leave well enough alone for us old-timers??
