The History of Martha Dellasega – Volume 1

Posted on June 3, 2011January 2, 2017 by Martha

I love these books so much, and they make me laugh every time I read them.  This is the first volume of a three-part series written by my little sister, Mary.  Mary was about 14 when she wrote this volume.

The History of Martha Dellasega, Volume I
Written and Illustrated by Mary Dellasega, 1964-66

    This is a real treasure!
Which boy finally won your heart?
Can’t wait to read the other volumes.
Did your sister use her artistic skills in later life? She was very good for 14 years old.

I love the story and the illustrations! She was very good at capturing the emotion. What does she do now?

This is so funny and cute! The drawings are great! Is your sister still into making art or writing stories?

Wow — my old “histories” on the Web! What an honor! But I feel like it’s also a good thing there are no last names in these stories! It is strange to see how the world looked to me when I was that age. In particular, it looked as if being beautiful, sophisticated, and confident was what counted if you were female — and that my older sister was all of those things and I never would be! (That’s the sad, hesitant-to-grow-up note under the humor!)
